Passport

A passport is an official travel document issued by a government that certifies a person's identity and nationality for international travel. A passport allows a person to enter and temporarily reside in a foreign country. Indian passports are issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Ministry of External Affairs will issued three types of passports :

1. Ordinary Passport

Ordinary passports are issued to individuals who are citizens of India. These passports are issued to travel foreign countries for business ,holidays and visit purpose. Colour of Ordinary passport is Navy Blue .

2. Diplomatic Passport

Diplomatic passports are issued to people holding diplomatic status deputed by the Government of India . Colour of Diplomatic passport is deep maroon.

3. Official Passport

Official passports are issued to people who is high-ranking government officials, including IAS officers- for official travel abroad. Colour of Official passport is White .

Tatkaal Passport

The tatkal passport service is a fast-track service provided by the Indian government for urgent passport applications. This service is designed to individuals with emergency travel plans and unexpected travel due to work or medical reasons. Processing time of Tatkaal passport is generally faster than a regular passport.

Renewal Passport

Renewal of passport means that an existing passport that has expired or is nearing expiration. To continue availing the travel on passport, the individual needs to renew the passport before the expiry of 10 years or after the validity expires. By providing necessary documents, and paying a fee to receive a new passport with an updated expiry date.
